Tutor Terms
Last updated: 28 August 2026
1. The relationship
These terms apply to tutors on Blank Academy, operated by Bidileci Holdings ("we", "us"). By applying to teach on the platform and delivering lessons you agree to them; families are covered by the separate Terms of Service.
You teach on Blank Academy as a self-employed professional. Nothing in these terms creates an employment relationship, a worker relationship, an agency or a partnership. You are responsible for your own income tax, National Insurance and any registration HMRC requires of you. You choose your own availability and are free to decline lesson requests.
2. Joining and staying on the platform
- Everything in your application, qualifications, QTS status, examiner roles, experience, references, must be true. We verify it, and misrepresenting it is grounds for immediate removal.
- Keep your profile accurate. If something material changes (for example you lose a qualification or a professional restriction is imposed on you), tell us promptly.
- We may remove a tutor from the platform for breaching these terms, for safeguarding reasons, or for consistently poor conduct towards families. Where it is fair to do so, we will warn you first.
3. Delivering lessons
- Lessons take place in the Blank Academy lesson room, at the booked time, prepared and punctual.
- If you must cancel, do it as early as possible. Cancelling within 12 hours of a lesson refunds the family in full, earns you nothing, and is recorded: it leads to a warning, you are expected to help the family reschedule, and repeated short-notice cancellations lead to removal from the platform.
- If a family cancels within 12hours of a lesson, or the student does not attend, you keep the lesson's credits, your reserved time has value too.
- Write the lesson note after each lesson; it is what parents see of your work.
4. Getting paid
- You earn credits for delivered lessons. Your payout rate per credit is shown on your Payouts page.
- Payouts are made through Stripe: you connect your own Stripe account from the Payouts page, request a payout when you want one, and we review and approve it, normally within a few working days. The money then goes directly to your bank account.
- We may decline a payout request where lessons are under investigation (for example a serious complaint or suspected fraud); we will tell you why, and pay anything not in dispute.
- You must not accept payment from platform families outside the platform, see section 5.
5. Families stay on the platform
Families you meet through Blank Academy must be taught through Blank Academy. While you teach on the platform and for 12 months after your last lesson through it, you agree not to solicit or accept private work from families the platform introduced you to, or to direct them off the platform. This is how the vetting, safeguarding and payment protections stay meaningful, and how the platform that brings you students keeps existing.
6. Safeguarding, non-negotiable
- All contact with students happens on the platform: lesson rooms and platform messaging only. Never contact a student by phone, personal email, social media or any private channel, and never ask a student for their contact details.
- Keep every interaction professional and appropriate to working with children. If a student discloses something concerning, or you are worried about a child's welfare, report it to us at once at hello@blankacademy.co.uk , do not investigate it yourself.
- You must tell us immediately if you are the subject of any criminal investigation, caution or conviction, or any professional finding, relevant to working with children.
- Our Safeguarding Statement forms part of these terms. Breaching this section leads to immediate suspension while we investigate.
7. Data and confidentiality
You see students' personal data, profiles, homework, messages , only to deliver lessons. Use it for nothing else, share it with no one, and delete any copies when you leave the platform. Our Privacy Policy explains how the platform itself handles data.
8. The legal bits
You are responsible for the quality of your own teaching; we recommend you hold professional indemnity insurance, though we do not currently require it. Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or business losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
We may update these terms with reasonable notice by email or a notice on the platform. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
